Despite rising energy prices and inflation, the market continues to show great results with an annual growth of +12% in volume and +18% in value, which means the market is still in a growth phase. On the other hand, the whole country was in lockdown for the whole month of January. The conclusion is that the market continues to cool slightly in terms of quantitative results. But, as we predicted after the end of 2021, more premium items will be purchased.
MDA did not show impressive results, sales units increased only +33%, sales value increased +44%. On the other hand, this was expected, as household appliances are not online goods. Another fact is that MDA sales, both in terms of volume and value, were at their lowest in the last ten months. Similar processes will continue in the future.
SDA – Like MDA, this sector also saw growth of +36% in units and +57% in value. All groups grew in both volume and financial terms. Although things looked bad for irons in 2021, this group grew +76% this time, and there was +66% growth in value. In second place – hot beverage makers, units grew +65%, value +67%. In third place – vacuum cleaners, units +42%, value +60%.
TV – One of the most important retail groups continues to decline. Although sales units remained unchanged compared to January 2021, however there was a lockdown. So, we can say that the volume of TV has been down for the seventh month in a row. The situation with the sales value does not change, +13%. Consumers continue to buy bigger and more expensive TVs.
SMP – January was profitable for the phone sector, sales units +3%, sales value +9%. However, it’s worth reiterating that last year we had a lockdown in January, which makes these numbers less impressive. Hopefully February and March will look different, as Samsung will unveil its new flagships.
IT – Our predictions for the end of 2021 are coming true. Sales units ended up at -9%. The entire sector was negative, except for media tablets, which only saw +1% growth. In terms of sales value, a growth of +7%. If the sales units of media tablets remained the same, the sales value decreased by -3%. Notebooks +10%, monitors +13% and printers -12%. These IT trends are expected to continue in the coming months.
