Lithuania’s June Market Review

After the MDA sector recorded a decline in April, June continued the trend for the second time this year, with -5% in sales units. The biggest declines were recorded in the freestanding groups: cookers -17%, coolers -12%, freezers -29%, washing machines -8%. The highest increases continue in dishwashers +13%, tumble dryers +14%, ovens +8%. On the other hand, the sales value in June recorded an increase of +6%. As far as individual groups are concerned, dishwashers recorded the largest growth in terms of value with +25%, tumble dryers with +19% and built-in appliances with +15%. The largest decline in sales value was recorded in cookers with -9% and freezers with -22%.

Since the beginning of the year, the SDA sector has recorded a steady decline. June is no exception with -4% in units sold and -8% in sales value. This trend is expected to continue through the end of the year. The two main product groups responsible for this decline are hot beverage makers and vacuum cleaners. June was no exception, with vacuum cleaners recording a -20% decline in sales units and -16% in sales value, the worst performance since 2020. Irons also recorded a -4% decline in sales units -4% and only +1% in sales value. As for shaver group the sales units grew by 7%, but the sales value remained unchanged at 0%. Only the dental category grew in both sales value and units, but that’s not enough to boost the small domestic appliance market.

March, April and May had a negative market outcome for the TV sector. The negative trend continues in June with -14% in sales units and -15% in sales value. On the positive note, it is believed that the TV sales will start growing in September or November.

As predicted before, the SMP sector will smooth out the edges for this year’s overall market results. As for sales units, June was one of the better results of the first half of the year with growth of +9%. In terms of sales value June showed the second best result this year with an impressive +31%.

After a few good years, we expected a downturn in the IT sector, but surprisingly that didn’t happen. After a few hiccups in March the market has stabilized and has reached an unexpected plateau. As for individual groups, the biggest decline was recorded in notebooks with -15% in sales units and -3%. Media tablets continue to grow +19% in sales units and +17% in sales value. Monitors grew +3% in sales units and +14% in sales value. Even printers showed an increase this time, with +5% in sales value after many months.
