This is the first negative MDA result in 4 months this year. As expected, the largest declines were recorded in the freestanding MDA groups – cookers -10%, washing machines -8%, refrigerators -11% and built-in hobs around -5%. On the other hand, there were increases in freezers, as much as +40%. Tumble dryers grew by 3% and microwaves by +2%. The sales value of freezers increased by +46%, microwaves by +22%, dryers and dishwashers by +10% each, and refrigerators by +18%.

SDA results have declined for the second month in a row. April shows similar trends to March: -5% in sales units and -3% in sales value. The top two SDA groups – hot beverage makers and vacuum cleaners – continue to slide downward. If in March sales units of hot beverage makers fell -4% and sales value fell -8%, in April it was -14% in units sold and -3% in sales value. This is already a trend that will end in the second quarter. Vacuum cleaners fell -17% in units sold and -7% in sales value. Irons continue to grow with +23% in sales value and -3% in sales units. Shavers continue to show a growth trend with +12% in units sold and +4% in sales value.

April in the TV sector continues to be negative, and this is already a more than clear trend that may continue until the end of the year. In the last three months, both sales units and sales value were negative: -10% in sales units and -3% in sales value. We will certainly see such market trends through July. The second half of the year will continue to be negative, but this negative trend will decrease.

The SMP sector recorded a small decrease of -1% in units sold this time in April, after a slightly positive March. However, sales value grew by a full +32%. We talked about how March would have been even more positive in terms of value had it not been for the absence of some flagships. The shortage of inventory is likely to continue and affect the growth of the SMP sector.

The IT sector continued to decline in April, but the result is somewhat different from March. The value of units sold fell by only -3%. The only positive product group was media tablets, which increased in sales units by +48%. The other groups are notebooks with -12%, monitors -23% and printers even -33%.
In terms of value, the IT sector is already showing positive signs, but this increase is temporary and one-off, as this +5% was only influenced by the +65% growth of media tablets. All other groups are and will be negative: Notebooks -7%, Monitors -2%, Printers -3%.

The MDA sector saw a -5% decline in sales units in April.
