Lithuania’s October Market Review

October looked great for MDA sector with +13% growth in sales value. The biggest declines, in terms of units, were in ovens -11%, built-in hobs grew +13%, washing machines grew +8%, microwaves grew +21%, and freezers grew +5%. In terms of monetary value, the largest increases were recorded in microwaves +44%, freezers and refrigerators +23%, built-in hobs +14%. Washing machines, ovens and dryers each grew by 11%. So October was a really good month for the MDA sector and the remaining months of this year should look more stable.

The SDA sector in October is very similar to September, sales units remain with no growth. Sales values grew only +3%. The biggest declines were in vacuum cleaners -10% and irons -8%. The biggest growth was in the dental care equipment category +20% and shavers +9%. In terms of sales value, it was negative only for hot beverage makers -7%. Dental category recorded a growth of +24%, shavers +11%, irons +8% and vacuum cleaners +6%. It appears that similar trends will continue through the end of the year, but it is likely that the SDA will enter a falling phase.

The TV sector has been negative in both units sold and value over the past 8 months. In October, sales volumes fell to -8% and sales value fell to -2%. On the other hand, these results were to be expected and it looks like the TV market will not fall drastically in the near future.

The SMP sector performed rather modestly in October after a wonderful September. Sales were down -1%, while sales value was up +17%. The new flagship models launched in September seem to be struggling with supply shortages, so the coming months could bring negative results.

IT sector in October has again showed a decline, this time we have -6%. The biggest unit declines were in printers with -19% and monitors -15%. The sales units of notebooks and media tablets remained the same as in October 2021. IT sector showed a growth of +11% in October in terms of value. Notebooks grew by +19%, media tablets by +7%. Sales of printers decreased by -13% and monitors -11%.
